Summer Beauty Basics

Your Worst Enemy: Cellulite

No one should have to avoid going to the beach because they are embarrassed of there cellulite so the best solution is to use a firming lotion such as Nivea's Goodbye Cellulite Gel-Cream or Clarins High Definition Body Lift. These products, overtime, should reduce the appearance of cellulite. Although they won't perform miracles I believe it's worth a try!

If you're still not convinced then maybe you should find a cute cover-up in the meantime to hide common trouble areas such as the thighs or butt. This beautiful Echo Beach Cover Up might interest you.

Bikini line

I always like to maintain a clean bikini line throughout the year, but during the summer it is an absolute necessity. I recommend getting a bikini wax because it doesn't irritate the skin as much as a razor. Not to mention, a bikini wax usually lasts up to a minimum of two weeks versus 3-5 days if you shave. You will also notice that the hair grows back much thinner once you wax once or twice. But, I must warn you that if you start waxing and you go back to shaving then you will reverse all the results and your hair will start to grow back thicker.

When you're at the salon about to get a bikini wax they might ask you what shape you want. To avoid awkwardness check out these bikini styles and know what you want ahead of time:

[Starting at top right : The Power strip, The Skinny, the Love triangle (larger  triangle compared to Bermuda triangle), the Bermuda triangle, the bare body (also known as the Brazilian)]

Also, if you can afford it- Laser Hair Removal is great too. It can be expensive but they guarantee that the hair will stop growing completely after 6-8 treatments. I'm currently doing Laser Hair Removal on my bikini line and lower legs and its working really great. However, I also did it on my upper lip and it was a total waste of money. So I wouldn't recommend doing Laser Hair Removal on your face.

I go to American Laser Center in Arlington, MA in case your interested.

Smooth Skin
If you experience cold winters like I do in Massachusetts than your skin is probably dry during this time of the year. Therefore, you should prepare your legs and arms for the summer by exfoliating your skin, using a moisturizing body wash, and then dry skin lotion.

Now I know there are thousands of products you could use but I really love the Dove Deep Nourishing Body Wash because it smells great, it's gentle, and it really feels like my body has been soaking in a tub of lotion when I get out of the shower.

Dry Shampoo

This product is a must for me anytime during the year because I have oily hair. My hair is so oily that if I go a day without washing it people probably think I haven't showered in a week.

Anywho, during hot summer days your hair might start to feel a little limp and oily after sitting in the sun for a couple of hours so dry shampoo is a great alternative to washing your hair because it removes oil and dirt without water. And it only takes 2 mintues!!! By the way, if you have colored hair like I do then washing your hair everyday will fade the color so you should use dry shampoo once in awhile to make your hair color last longer.

I recommend using TRESemme Dry Shampoo because it removes oil and dirt while adding volume!!!

Protect your Skin

Protecting your face with SPF 30 is extremely important during the summer because it prevents wrinkles, pigmentation, and dry skin. You should use a moisturizer with SPF 30, I like using Olay SPF 30  Defense Daily because it's affordable and effective.

Mani/Pedi

One of my most favorite summer beauty treats is a Mani/Pedi because your nails look clean, fresh, and just glamourous. Usually, I opt for your typical French mani/pedi because its classic and I never get tired of it. But lately the color Mint Green is starting to get really popular and I'm lovin' it!
